Visiting My Hometown

My Home Town
What is it like for you to go back home? Is it a preparation for the best? Do you look forward to seeing your old hangouts, malls, favorite pizza place? or is it a drag? Perhaps you’re not in the state of mind to go back to those old places you were around so often as a kid. What does going home mean to you?
I personally am excited and relieved to be returning home to visit my family for a week. I know it’s only been recently since I relocated to Los Angeles, but I miss home-cooked food and old friends. Here’s a little bit of what it’ll be like for me to return home: 1. Big Welcoming Home Show at Buck 15 with all my friends and a bunch of great musicians performing. 2.Come Monday I’ll be spending time with my baby brother and watching movies all day. 3. Cruising in my motorcycle with my dad on his bike. We’ll probably take I-95 up to Ft. Lauderdale and cruise along Las Olas Blvd. 4. AMAZING food cooked by my mom! 5. I’m stoping by: Bougainvilleas, Duffy’s Tavern, The Abbey, Yard House and Titanic for some drinks. 6. Grove on Thursday with all my fellow UM Canes. 7. Drive down to Alabama Jacks in Key Largo for an amazing brunch. 8. BEACH – Collins and 29th. 9. Checking out some local music. 10. Pack and come back to LA.
Share with me what it’s like to return home, wherever your home may be.

My hometown is Southern based. Filled with hospitable people, humidity that will humble you and memories that can smother you like kudzu if you fail to pay close enough attention. Although I am young (mid twenties), I have no family left in my hometown; however, I do return to loyal, supportive friends and wonderful places that still warm my heart.

Thanks. I have recently found myself enjoying the blogs of certain composers(count yourself as one). To “turn a phrase” may be experiencing a revival. All the best —
